He’s definitely up there with the best of the best but it’s a close call.
Tien Lung only had one arm, so you’ve got to doff your cap to him for that.
Mr. T had a beard, that’s got to be worth something. He would have been much bigger but he didn’t like to fly, so that limited his career somewhat.

Rocky Balboa the greatest? Please! Get real. You really didn't pay attention to the movies did you? One, he lost his first fight. He didn't have the points to win so he lost. And don't give me that Apollo fixed it crap. he lost and that's final. Second, After winning the 2nd Creed-Balboa ticket he didn't fight any real contenders. He maintained his Champ status by fighting questionable fighters. While these fights weren't fixed. The boxers weren't of Rocky's level. This is the same thing that Mason "t(This is according to his manager Micky in Rocky III) It wasn't until Clubber Lang challenged him on the museum steps did Rocky accept this challenge. Rocky ducked a majority of his big fights. This is why he wasn't ready for Clubber Lang. a true contender.

All that aside. Rocky is a work of fiction. And let's be honest there hasn't been a White American Heavyweight Champ since Rocky Marciano back in 1956.

Muhammad Ali defeated almost every top Heavyweight in his era, an era which has been called the Golden Age of Heavyweight boxing.

Finally, no one has every defeated a champ at the age of 60. the oldest has been George Foreman at 45.

Given that Rocky Balboa is a fictional character, he is definitely not the greatest boxer of all time. Who recognises him as the greatest boxer of his generation? People in the Rocky films don't count.

Balboa never was more than a fringe contender, but he had some wars. A lot of good 135 and 140 lb. fighters beat him on the way to the title.

If he was a real boxer he may well have had the greatest chin of all time but certainly not the greatest defence of all time.

Given his imminent return to the ring at the age of 60 I think he is inarguably the greatest boxer of all time. Yes.

Greatest fictional sports charactor portayed in Hollywood, maybe. For you see, he never existed. I hope that this is what you meant. It is one of the greatest stories to hit the screen, although I did not care for Rocky V.
But he is a fictional character....so, no, he is not the greatest boxer of his generation.

It's rare for any boxer to survive after the beatings he took. He probably averaged 15 knockdowns a fight. If Clubber Lang could whup him than most of the chumps today could.

Then we could hear some changes in the script. How about:
"Hey Adrwwiun, Ay got my ahss kicked!"
