You can't cure colds, you can only alleviate the symptoms. Get plenty of rest, drink lots of warm fluids and water to flush out your system, take a cold remedy like Day Nurse tablets that will help dry up your nose and reduce any temperature.

Its hard to shake off common colds. The only thing i can say is drink plenty of water (1 and a half ltres p.day ) to flush out the germs and try to eat lots of fresh fruit and veg to boost the immune system. Taking vitamin c and garlic capsules are great for keeping colds at bay. You could also try Vicks Sinex 1 a day capsules for blocked sinuses - they really do work!
Alternatively, you could go for the Eucalyptus oil inhalation method. Pop a few drops of Eucalyptus essential oil onto a piece of tissue or into a warm bowl of water and inhale. This is more effective if you place a towel over your head first. Do not ingest Eucalyptus though as it is a highly toxic oil.

Considering that colds are viruses; you can only treat the symptoms. For any kind of congestion I take Sudafed (generic psuedephedrin) and for my children's cough, Robuttussin DM which is an expectorant which will take the gunk out of your lungs. There isn't anyway to cure a cold, just let it run it's course. They normally last for 14-21 days depending on the severity.

Right. Take one gram of Vitamin C with BioFlavinoids (Slow Release if possible) every hour for five hours, then reduce the dose to three a day. You will Pee a lot but that's no problem. Vit C is harmless and it is very effective in high doses for reducing the severity of Colds.
To clear your nose. Pinch the bridge with forefinger and thumb for several minutes until the blockage clears.

Try Zicam it works pretty well. But there isn't really a cure for a cold other than rest and fluids.
