The human brain must stay active, and I don't think it's a coincidence that places with more technology have less religion.

religion was not created by man, it was creaed by Jesus Christ FOR man.
We are born into ths world with a inbeded knowledge of God. Some go on in thier lives searching to fufill the hunger that know him in a very persoanl way. and only in Him can be find that fulfillment

and then are others who push aside these longings in thier hearts and deny that there is a God, and he will not always strive with man.. Every person's heart will be drawn by God, but if you close your heart to him he will let you go on into hell everlasting..

Man created religion for the same reason he created many of the mythological creatures like ghosts, fairies, and monsters. He did it to explain that which could not be explained at the time. The ancient Greeks believed a God named Helios pulled the sun across the sky with his chariot and this brought night and this was the belief all throughout the Hellenistic Era.

However as our knowledge of science increased we learned that night is caused not by a man pulling the sun with a chariot but rather the Earth revolving. After this there was no more need for Helios. Many other myths and legends were put to rest in a similar fashion.

Man created religion to be a form of comfort in explaining the unexplainable. Nature dishes out alot of scary stuff that man was afraid of and couldn't explain and since we are social beings who live within a hiearchy, the imagination started to think that there was something greater, a god, if you will, that controlled nature and religion began by paying tribute and praying to this being. It just grew from there.
Boredom...maybe. As far as you last part of your question, I think that with less technology, the people have nothing different. The same dialogs, the same way of living, the same way of believing. Nothing has changed their way of thinking.

man created religion to help ease the minds of those who came before us. we must remember that religion has changed greatly in the history of man.it began as a way to explain things to very simple minded people about the world they live in.i.e. the sun was a god to be worshiped. as time went by and the human race advanced it became a way for high powered me of the church to hold control over the masses.i.e. the crusades. today it is more a thing of comfort to be held to as an anchor to eternity. i do believe in the one true god but i don't think the bible or any other one point of view can teach us all we need to know. but no i don't think it was boredom that inspired religion.

I don't think so. Man was looking for some explanation for his existence. Have you never wondered "why am I here", "what am I doing here?". God gives or atleast once upon a time gave a very credible explanation.
