Since I live on the 18th floor I can't take her out side to let her do her business so I use the dog pad. The other day my niece visited and she played in the room where the pad was laid and my dog played with her. And there I saw a puddle of urine right beside the pad...and then she did it again after few hours later. I mean she did make some mistakes in other places but never in that room.
I am totally confused..oh..and by the way I've had her for a month now and she's three yr old poodle.

To train a Puppy takes about two weeks. You need patience so deal with it accordingly,.

She was probably marking her territory. You will need to clean that area very well Use an enzyme cleaner that destroys the urine and eliminates all the scent. I've used Natures Miracle and it works great. But you have to completely rid the area of her scent, and a number of applications may be needed. If it was on a rug, the rug, padding and floor need to be thoroughly cleaned. You can even clean the other spots where she has made a mistake so she knows there is only one place to go in your apartment. If she is a small poodle, there are also prissy pants you can get at a pet store. They are like a cloth diaper with a hole for the tail and you use disposable/removable pads that protect your floors/rugs etc.

She could have been marking her territory. Was this the first time your neice was around her? Your dog most likely was just claiming the place as hers. Use special cleaners that remove pet odor so she won't want to do it again.
