Well, I have been out of the flying game for quite a while, but the Bell 47 D-1 had a wood blade, That was my first helicopter on which I trained. They have progressed through just about every metal since then and now (or at least when I retired in 1991), they were made out of composite carbon fiber usually with a stainless steel leading edge to reduce wear

In the past they were metallic, mainly aluminum, but today they are usually a sandwich of composite materials(carbon fiber, Kevlar, fiberglass) with honeycomb in the middle.
Usually fiberglass because carbon fiber and especially Kevlar are hygroscopic, that means that their mechanical characteristics are damaged by water.
