it is the misconception of Christians
In fact there is not a single unequivocal statement in the entire Bible where Jesus (pbuh) himself says, "I am God" or where he says, "worship me". In fact the Bible contains statements attributed to Jesus (pbuh) in which he preached quite the contrary. The following statements in the Bible are attributed to Jesus Christ (pbuh):
(i) "My Father is greater than I."
[The Bible, John 14:28]
(ii) "My Father is greater than all."
[The Bible, John 10:29]
(iii) "…I cast out devils by the Spirit of God…."
[The Bible, Mathew 12:28]
therefore Christians should worship the god almighty.

Nobody who has seen Jesus has drawn any picture of Jesus . They have a picture of Jesus according to their imagination. they alone can worship idol and if any other people do it they are irrational and devil worshippers .That is the philosophy of the Christians .Any thing logical is unacceptable to them as it is sin and blasphemy .

Jesus is the Son of God and therefore He too is God,if you worship the true God then you cannot be an idol worshiper, those who bow down to man made deities are idol worshipers, and a cross or a depiction of Jesus is not idolatry as He is God.

If I were to answer like this:
Strictly speaking, if they do that, then they are not Christians.
Does this make Catholics non-Christian?
If so, which Christians are you talking about?
Would that partly answer your question?

For the same reason you would carry a photo of your mother. You know that the photo itself isnt your mother but it helps you to think of her when you look at it. Christians arent worshipping the statue itself but the person that it reminds them of.

I don't. I own no statues or crosses. I have no need for them because God doesn't live in those things.
