What is the story behind some fighters breaking there leg in a MMA fight? I was watching some clips on the net of deferent fighters who snapped there leg in hafe at the chin. Will they ever recover? What causes that? Is it just a freak accident?

What do you mean by what causes that? Bones aren't made of metal. They break if you exert too much force on them, specially if the hitting point is the middle of the shin, its center of gravity. Some months with a cast and the bone nailed will be enough to let the shin recover. However, it will have many chances of breaking again if you get hit there again.

I read about one of those fighters who had his shin break like that. His leg was flopping like a wet noodle. He recovered fully and went onto fight in MMA again.

I know that by doing alot of training you calluous up the legs. I trained in the same gym as a world champion kickboxer. I watched in disbelieve as this guy would go kick the metal ring post with his shins. I don't think he was kicking it full strenght but if I tried to do the same I would be on the floor in pain. So I would guess the MMA fighters without a long background in kickboxing would be more likely to suffer a broken shin.

are you talking thier shin?

I always love those muai thai matches where that happens, it is like a car wreck with lots of blood and severed body parts everywhere, it is horrible, yet strangely interesting and funny.

That is because they might be injured prior and didn't fully heal, or it could be that they are delivering more force than thier bones can handle. Kind of like when a boxer gets into a fight without wrist wraps there is a tendancy to punch harder like you are trained to do.

Problem is that without wraps you are delivering more force than your hand can handle because it is either not properly built up, or still more force than you can handle. When your "elbow" becomes your weak spot rather than your hand, you can deliver a lot more force without problems of your own. Same with this I would imagine but like everything it depends on that particular person, thier health, prior injuries, training and build.
