it all depends on the person's prior personal wishes, and how long he/she would live without the tube. if lack of nutrition is their only physilological problem, it would be cruel to let them starve to death. however, if they are going to die of heart failure in two days regardless, the tube is an uneccessary measure.

No, absolutely not. There are many different reasons for feeding tubes and they aren't always permanent. Usually feeding tubes are used when the patient is having difficulty swallowing. They are used in coma patients but not always.

A feeding tube is to feed, and it is put when people are of not able to swallow...
Or if they need to be force-fed because for one or another reason they are not able or not willing to feed them-self and are then in danger of dehydration... or death...
So, it happens that people in a coma are fed that way and of course they can't talk and express their wishes...

no a feeding tube is ment to deliver food for many reasons.

I wouldn't want one. I have made this clear to family . This is where a living will comes in.
