Yes -- it comes from the Ironstone (one word) Vineyards winery in California (not the Ironstone winery in Australia.

Obsession is an off dry white wine made from the Symphony grape variety, which is a fairly recent variety being a cross of Muscat of Alexandria and Grenache Gris created at University of California at Davis by Dr H Olmo in 194. It got its name because it was said to be 'a Symphony of aromas and flavors.'

Symphony is grown only (I think) in California and there are fewer makers of it than there were -- its growing out of favor.

I first tasted Obsession at the Ironstone winery afew years ago, but was surprised to see it on sale in the UK in the past few years (at Morrisons for UK readers).

The wine is quite aromatic with a floral and should please most casual wine drinkers as its soft sweetness makes it most approachable. Its inexpensive - $8 at the winery - so would make a good party wine.

The winemaker suggests it makes a good match with asian cuisine -- see http://www.ironstonevineyards.com/store/winedetail.asp?SID=&Product_ID=4&Category_ID=3
