I'm 19 yrs old. Tonight i laid down to go to bed and I was on my right side and I felt a sharp pain go right under my breast. So, I laid still for like a minute then I moved to my back. The pain didn't stop for like 5 mins contuniously. And now, I took a hot bath to relax my body and now just sitting still or moving is triggering the pain. This happens like once a month but the pain only lasts for seconds...a lil background: I went to my female doc. last tuesday. She gave me a shot and said within 10 days I should have a period-the shot ups my hormone levels really high..if not more than likely I'm preg. -I have endometriosis. Is this a cause of the shot? What could it be? Should I go see a doc? I don't live with my mom but she's a RN & she said its just muscle & to put a heatin pad on it...just typing this is triggering the pain.

Maybe just stating the obvious, but gas can manifest itself like that. Its the leading "fake" heart attack out there. :) Unless you are dizzy or experience other symptoms take a gas-x or a renatadine and sit on it for an hour.

I would actually be inclined to side with your mother here. I recall when I was 19 or 20 actually, I had a similar sporadic pain RIGHT where my heart is located. I went to the ER, they did X-Rays, ran tests, etc. and found absolutely nothing. Followed up with my doctor because the pain persisted, and nothing.
About a year later, I stopped getting the pains. As it turns out, it was just a pulled muscle inside of my chest, and those pulled muscle pains can last a very long freaking time. What is even more funny is that someone told me about their experiences that were nigh identicle to mine, and tried to calm me down and I still freaked out and was constantly worried.
There's nothing really calming that can be said, I realize now. Pain is the body's way of telling you that something is wrong, and it's only human nature to feel that something is very wrong when we're alerted like this. In this case though, I would guess it's a muscle. Going to a doctor is definately not a bad idea, but based on what you've told me, I think you'll probably get a similar answer there.
I do feel for you and hope you a nice calmness in the near future!

Catamenial pneumothorax is an uncommon manifestation of Endometriosis in the plueral region; while uncommon, it does have hallmark symptoms that don't really match yours. However, if you are concerned it may be Endometriosis, see a specialist who truly understands the disease rather than a regular obgyn who will be largely unfamiliar with it. Particularly an obgyn who has no reservations about determining pregnancy through the use of a hormone injection rather than a standard HCG test. Hormone injections are largely ineffective for lung Endometriosis; the disease should be removed if in fact that is what is causing your symptoms. It is entirely possible and more likely that your mother is correct in her diagnosis, but you should get an answer for your pain and proper treatment, regardless of the cause. If you don't get help at one doc, continue seeing others until you do. Feel better.

The only way it could be muscle pain is if you did something to hurt your pectorals or surrounding muscles. Have you lifted something heavy recently, or started a new workout routine? I don't believe this should be a side effect of the "shot" you mentioned. If your mom is an RN, she should know what to tell you. But even young people have heart problems sometimes. If you are really concerned, maybe you should go to the ER or make an appointment with your doc tomorrow. Good luck, and take good care of yourself.

Does it feel like it's in the ribs? My gf and her roommate both have had this happen. For them it was an injury within the ribs (i forget the name) where something would inflame and cause horrible pain in the ribs. Sorry, hard to describe.
Did it happen prior to getting the shot though? If not then I'd say it'd have something to do with that. Give them a call and ask about the side effects and get it checked out. Hopefully it's not a blood clot or something.

You have endrometriosis: and as odd as it sounds, you could have adhesions in the chest cavity. The only way to know this would be to have an ultrasound. Its rare - but you never know.
It is possible that it is muscular. I was hit by a truck years ago and ever since I get a pain in my chest that feels like a rib is going to pop out. Hurts like the devil. I do yoga on a regular basis to keep it at bay (it's caused by a muscle along my spine of all things)
However - Mention this to your gyno - the fact that it occurs monthly gets my attention.

Maybe you'd better go to the emergency room. If it is a muscle spasm like your mom thinks, they can prescribe a muscle relaxant and give you some stronger pain medication. If it's something else, they'll take care of you.

it may be endometriosis or muscle strain..get it checked up again to take a second opinion..it happens to me also but it goes on its own..my doctor says may be due to indigestion..it may be due to some reason but that ur doctor can tell after diaginising u..this yahoo messenger room is n't the place to consult as everybody'll have their own view and u'll simple be getting confused..
dear always talk to doctor before taking any medicine from him\her..u have all rights to know why is she giving u that shot??as they'r also human beings they may make mistakes also..go for second opinion and check it up..

I tend to agree with your mom and think it is muscle pain. Use the heat as she said.
If it doesn't get better soon, you should see your doctor.
