Yes, but sometimes it's very important to elaborate your point in the answer and 50 words is not adequate in response to a question that requires a novel lengthed response. Oh no, I'm getting to my 50 word limit!! I'm fading awayyyy.

No! I don't want such restrictions and most definitely not such NARROW restrictions on the length of answers. If somebody writes or cuts and pastes a long answer that you are not interested in reading you can simply skip reading it.

I do wish that people wouldn't just cut and paste texts from elsewhere and instead actually answer in their own words with their own opinions, but restricting the length of answers would prevent us from getting good answers to certain questions. Sometimes long answers have a lot of interesting points.

I guess it depends on what the person is saying...I think if they are being very helpful and positive, they can type a novel if they want, and I would appreciate them taking the time to give me their answer, but if they are being rude, crude, or trying to act like a "know it all" for their own gain, then I would say yes, limit their word count.

Dear Pilgrim,

i think considering the seriousness of the topic 50 words may be too concise. i mean how can you prove that God does or does not exist in 50 words right?

But i agree there should be a limitation (esp. with the cutter and pasters).

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

I do believe that most of the time people need to answer off the top of their head but sometimes they do need specific words or references. It does help to prove a point but some of the other stuff is completely besides the point.

I apologize it might be my fault (I never cut and paste though). I am a writer by nature, and Mark Twain said something to the effect that, "If I had more time, I would have written you a shorter letter"

Writers tend to write more than necessary. We have lots to say about nothing.

No. Sometimes things take more explaining than 50 words would allow.

in this section, yes because I don't want to hear anyone preaching...just the facts, ma'am or sir...besides, I think if you have an actually valid point it can certainly be that concise...

what about one hundred words.
I agree that cut and pasting is a problem but some people have good answers to give, let them express themselves.

That would make answering technical questions very challenging.
