It is seriously taking its toll on my well being, because I can't sleep at night without a huge water bottle beside my bed. I wake up every 15 minutes (This is NOT exaggeration) dying of thirst and grab the water bottle and gulp down water. This goes on all night long!! Also, I probably fill the thing up at least 2 times a night. Plus every time I wake up I have to pee because I drank so much water from the last time I woke up. It goes on all night long, drinking, peeing, drinking-peeing-it-never-stops! It is driving me crazy and I am exhausted all the time because I never get any quality sleep. And yeah, I have already been tested for diabetes TWICE and I don't have it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to stop this madness? THANKS

Yeah the dry mouth thing...I can't really say I have a dry mouth. It's more in the back of my throat. I just feel like I need to have a cold beverage pouring down the back of my throat all the time. Maybe it IS psychological!
Thanks for all of the great answers! It was hard to pick a best one.

I was watching a show called "Mystery Diagnosis" on the discovery health channel and this lady was having the same symptoms your describing. No, she did not have diabetes or hyperglycemia. Its a condition and she has. She take medication to control it. I wish I could remember the name of her condition but I cant sorry. Do some Internet investigating and get a second opinion.

The only reason the world is the way it is is , is because thats the only way it can be . Humans are very complicated organisms which leads to complicated societies and more complex systems. If the world wasn't unfair it wouldn't be this advanced ( in relation to what we call advanced ) . Money has changed the way the society works. Current gen feels that its wrong cos they don't fully understand the past or aren't aware of the evolution of human existence. People living in developed countries can say thats its wrong and we should help others while the ones in poor countries say blame the god or government. its crazy how much we know about the world and how less we understand it.

Go back to the doctor (or to another doctor) and ask them to look for something other than diabetes. Obviously this is a medical problem. I don't think I can give you medical advice.
I'm so sorry you're having this problem because I'm sure you're suffering from the frustration and the lack of sleep. All the more reason to see a doctor asap.

But then again, you never know. It could also be a psychological problem. If doctors can't find anything wrong, you might want to check out some other kind of help. For a problem like this, I would think hypnosis would be the perfect answer. Get another checkup first though.

Um, maaaaate, start eating some carbs NOW!!! Good carbs though, you know the drill, whomeal breads and pastas, you are obviously consuming either nothing or way too much protein!! What's your diet like?? Are you very underweight? Carbohydrates provide energy for body functions. Also assist in the digestion and assimilation (use of) of foods. Without them you will feel constantly exhausted and you will disturb the balance of water, sodium, potassium and chloride in your body. Which uuum you've already done. Don't worry just EAT like weetbix for breakfast, wholemeal salad sandwiches and lean meat and glass milk/substitute for lunch, snack on fruit between meals (which are full of good carbs/sugars) and eat meat and green stuff (vegies/salad) at dinner. For God's sake I feel like I'm giving you a lecture, sorrrrrrrry don't mean to, guys just totally freak me sometimes. Treat yourself nice man, you only got one chance, don't blow it..........Don't chuck you water back at a million miles a second either, drink one mouthfull at a time so you don't just peesh it all out with vital nutrients and minerals from your body. Get your hands on some Spirulina 1000mg tablets from and local health food store (should cost around $30.00 AUD for 140 tabs) start with like 1 a day and increase every couple of days till you hit the right amount (energy level will increase in accordance with how many tabs you take). You'll know when you get it right, believe me. Spirulina is a deep sea vegetable, loaded in iron and protein, maaaaaagic stuff. Good for vegies like me.........Just Do It.......Let us know how you go.....Good luck....hope I've helped just a little bit....:)

Ask your doctor to check you for Sjogren's Syndrome. Dry mouth, usually called ‘xerostomia’ (zeer-oh-stomia), is a common symptom most often caused by a decrease in the amount or quality of saliva. Almost every Sjögren’s syndrome patient experiences some degree of dry mouth.
Dry mouth has many causes including:
prolonged use of many prescription drugs including certain antihistamines, antihypertensives, and antidepressants
chronic diseases such as Sjögren’s syndrome, sarcoidosis, hepatitis C, diabetes, or depression
medical treatments such as radiation therapy to the head and neck or bone marrow transplantation
Reduce oral symptoms and increase salivary secretion:
Two prescription drugs (pilocarpine/Salagen® and cevimeline/Evoxac®) reduce symptoms of dry mouth and increase salivary secretion for a few hours in most patients taking them. Both drugs have side effects; they may not prevent tooth decay and are not suitable for everyone. Consult with your doctor before using these prescription medications. Ask your doctor(s) if any prescription medications you are taking may be contributing to your symptoms of dry mouth. Ask if those that do so can be substituted or discontinued.
Treat oral candidiasis (thrush) when necessary:
A red appearance of the oral mucosa and/or a burning sensation in your mouth may indicate you have an oral infection by the yeast Candida. You should see your dentist or physician to make a definite diagnosis and prescribe an appropriate drug(s). These infections often recur but can be successfully treated as often as necessary.
Coping with Dry Mouth
Keep your mouth moist by sipping small amounts of water during the day (carry a small water bottle when away from home). However, excessive sips of water can reduce the oral mucus film and increase symptoms.
Avoid frequent intake of acidic beverages (such as most carbonated and sports replenishment drinks). Drink water while eating to aid chewing and swallowing. Caffeine can increase the sensation of oral dryness; be aware that many soft drinks contain caffeine.
Salivary secretion can be increased by chewing gum containing no sugar or sucking sugarfree hard candies or a cherry pit. Xylitol is a desirable sweetener present in some chewing gums and hard candies which has been shown to help prevent dental decay.
Many over-the-counter saliva substitutes are available. Their effects are temporary but helpful to those with very dry mouth. Using a saliva substitute instead of drinking water prior to sleep, and if awakened, prevents excessive urination that causes sleep disruption.
Dry cracked lips may be soothed by an oil-based balm or lipstick placed over previously moistened lips. The use of vitamin E-containing ointments may be helpful.
Increase the humidity in your home, particularly at night, by using a room humidifier.
I hope you don't have it...but, just in case, have it checked out.
God bless you!

Anytime I hear of someone craving ice the first thing that comes to mind is a condition called Pica - and youre not crazy - but your doctor should check you for iron and zinc deficiency. Peditricians tend to know that symptom better because they see it more often...
Good Luck

<>Just because you didn't test positive, doesn't mean you aren't diabetic (or "pre-diabetic"). It sure sounds like your are. Go see an endocrinologist.
