I heard one possible explanation was performance anxiety?
Another theory was that Mary was a 2 bagger and they only had one bag.

they were in the middle of a mythological play....obviously there not gonna stop to knock boots.
its mythology. the stroy wouldnt be as potent. or metaphorical/symbolic.

Mary and Joseph did consummate their marriage AFTER the birth of Jesus.
Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Since this says..."before they had come together (had intercourse) it clearly indicates that they did "come together" at some time.
this is confirmed by verse 25 of the same chapter:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
In short... Mary was a virgin when Jesus was born..but she did not remain a virgin after He was born.
BTW....Mary needed salvation the same way we do...through Jesus as she too had to trust HIM for full payment for her sin.

The bible says that John was Jesus's real brother and that he also had 3 sisters. Looks like some consummating was done to me.

Joseph didn't want to have sex with Mary because she was pregnant with Jesus. God didn't say he shouldn't he just made it his personal decision.....
