sharpei's have very sensitive skin and with all the wrinkles it's not a good idea to bath her more than once a month. check with your vet as to what shampoo you should use and make sure the skin in her wrinkles is always dry. and seriously, is she ugly otherwise, i mean i don't personally find this to be the most attractive breed of dog anyway, but she's your dog, as long as she's not covered in poo and mud, what is the problem?

sure dogs can get wet all they want, but sharpei's are different. the water can stay between their wrinlkes and cause a nasty skin infection. and the oils on a sharpei tend to be different than other dogs their skin tends to be too oily sometimes. don't know why but they do. you should research about sharpei skin conditions, they may have an answer about bathing on there.

and please DO NOT give your dog any additives that your vet has not approved. these are very very sensitive dogs.

For a nice looking dog and a nice coat, try using a premium food like Nutro or Canidae. You can also give your guy fish oil (you can buy this at walmart in the vitamin section) one pill a day. It also helps with coat and skin.

Good Luck

Dogs can get wet all they want, just don't use soap on them more than once a month.

This is because they don't produce very much skin oil and without their skin oil their coat will look dull and their skin can crack and bleed if it dries out.
