No, I don't think it is bad unless you use cleaners that stay in your toiled all the time. Maybe a little sloppy when the water splashes around and gets all over the toilet seat. Also, you may want to make sure that everyone in the house flushes the toilet so that your dogs aren't drinking someone's pea.

Yes it is bad. There are numerous germs in toilet water... even if you do clean it often, just think about that water sitting in the back of the toilet for such a long period of time. A normal toilet doesn't completely exhaust it's water supply ever flush, so some of it is just sitting back there. Not to mention all the cleaning product residue that could be there - especially if you use those tablet cleaners that do inside the tank.
Oh, and just to clarify.. toilet water isn't really cold. Most toilets use a mix of hot and cold water to keep it warm. If your toilet is hooked up to straight cold water, it would sweat all the time (think about what happens when you take a cold soda can and sit it out of the refridgerator) and the sides of the tank would stay wet.

It is bad for dogs to drink out of the toilet for all the same reasons that it's bad for you to drink out of the toilet. The chemicals and germs can make your dog just as sick as they will make you. Never give your dog water that you wouldn't drink yourself.

Most dogs like to get a drink from the toilet; I don't know why. Just one of their weird but endearing habits. Keep the seat down or the door closed to stop them doing that; they could get very sick and even die from germs or toxic chemicals.

The water may be cold and look clean, but it is not clean. Toilet bowl water has a lot more bacteria in it which could lead to you dog getting sick.

Let the dog do it. Dogs will usually instincively know if the water is going to make then ill. Just make sure you don't use any type off "in tank cleaner" , and make sure you flush. Bottoms up pooch!

Well if you forgot to flush your toliet and your dog drinks from it, thats bad cause of the dirty water, or if you put a liquid soap on your flushing water that is also bad cause he might be poisoned from the soap. But if you do none of those your dog will be fine but it is best to give it a fresh water, it is best to avoid disease.
