I have a 4 month old pit bull puppy, and ever since he was a baby, he would always act like he was "excited". Up to this day, he acts the same way, he's always sexually excited and it kind of worries me because I have another pit puppy (they're both brothers), and he tries to hump on the other one. I don't know if he will try to escape from my yard when he gets a little bit older, or if its normal for him to be that way. I really don't plan on breeding either one of them, so I will get them both neutered when they're about 8-9 months old. I just don't want to run the risk of my puppy going out my house and getting a ***** pregnant.

At 4 months im sure he is quite old enough to be neutered now. It sounds like your pups are establishing the pecking order. Dogs hump to show dominance, not just because they are sexually excited.

if you don't want to run the risk then have him neutered closer to 6 months. that is the best age to have them neutered. as for humping his brother, this is a dominace sign and not sexual. unless the pit is into elton john, then maybe? but anyway, i would take both of them to training class. and when you say he's always sexually excited, what do you mean exactly? he's always humping on something or his penis sticks out? sounds like he just has a dominant personality and training would benefit him greatly, it wil develop a bond with you and the dog better and he will learn to respect you as his leader. if he is actually sexually excited, check with your vet he may be old enough and big enough to neuter now. but how wonderful you are responsible to have a plan to have them neutered already in the works. these guys are lucky to have someone who is responsible and loves them.

I am so glad you are getting them neutered. Try to get them in by 6 months because of you worries. I wouldn't wait that long most vets will do it at 5-6 months. In general 6 months is the average age that most males have the capability.

The humping behavior is about power, not sex. He's asserting his dominance over the other dog. The same behavior may not occur with any given *****.
