i've had dandruff since i was 3, and i have VERY dark, thick hair.... I also live in Colorado and it's very dry here, with the winds and cold,,, which, of course, makes it even worse, and it's soooooo painful and itchy,,,,, and HUGE flakes. I've tried head and shoulders, I've tried pantiene anti-dandruff, I've tried neutrogena Tgel, I've tried Selsun blue,,,,,, and the best thing i've found, is to get a cheap brand of plain shampoo, suave works best, and use it for the first soaping to get your hair clean.... then, second soaping, i use the neutrogena tgel (the off brands work jsut as well, actually the family dollar has an off brand that works great...) it's a coal tar based shampoo. use the head and shoulders or pantiene (one with pyrithione zinc) for the final soaping, to medicate it.

I know, it's hard, but once you get used to it, it works the best.....

I'm going to try the tea tree oil thing tomorrow tho......... lol

good luck, and have a good day!!!

I recommend using Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment Shampoo, that will cure even the toughest dandruff. This works very well, and you will not have to worry about dandruff at all, as long as you use this shampoo. They also have a variety of conditioners, as well, that are very good.

You can use a few drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo daily or you can apply aloe vera gel to you hair and scalp 10 minutes before washing. Head and shoulders can actually take a while to be effective, but if you use tea tree oil or aloe vera and wash with head and shoulders it should start to clear up almost immediately.

Try over the counter shampoo such as Selsin Blue or head N Shoulders if that doesn't work you may need to see a dermatologist. Hope this helps. Also try looking it up on the web and see what tips you can find.

One Way:
* STEP 1: Mix 8 tbsp. peanut oil with the juice of half a lemon. Rub the mixture into your hair, leave on for 10 minutes and then wash as usual.
* STEP 2: Add 3 drops of tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic, to a small amount of shampoo and then wash your hair.
* STEP 3: Rinse your hair with a solution of 1/4 c. vinegar and 1 qt. water.
* STEP 4: Use an infusion of the herbs chaparral or thyme as a hair rinse.
* STEP 5: Add flaxseed oil, primrose oil or fish oil to your diet.
* STEP 6: Use kelp as a seasoning.
* STEP 7: Take selenium, vitamin B complex, vitamin E and zinc supplements. Do not exceed 100mg of zinc a day.
* STEP 8: Take vitamin C and a bioflavonoid complex.
* STEP 9: Add lecithin granules or capsules to your diet.
* STEP 10: Make at least 50 percent of your diet raw food.
* STEP 11: Avoid or decrease your intake of fried foods, dairy products, sugar, chocolate and nuts.

Second way:
Cure for dandruff:
* Vinegar is poured into the hair, massaged into the scalp, and left to dry for a few minutes.
* Then the hair is washed.
* The process is repeated daily until the dandruff disappears, usually within a few days.
