First, be sure to trim it regularly. Curly hair tends to be drier, and split ends make your hair frizzy.
Next, buy a good, moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I use Loma Simplicity Moisturizing Shampoo and Loma Intensity Deep Conditioner (even though it's "deep" conditioner, I use it every day). I usually shampoo my hair every other day, but I condition it every day. My hair does NOT get oily, no matter what I do, so if your curly hair is anything like mine, this might make it more moist and less frizzy.
Don't brush your hair after you get out of the shower. Brush or finger comb it in the shower, then let it be once you get out. The more you touch curly hair, the more frizz you will get.
Finally, buy a good styling cream. Some people like mousse, but that always makes my hair crunchy, which I HATE. I use a cream like Pureology Nanoglaze. For something less expensive, I usually use frizz-ease or a similar product.
Beware: I go through a bottle of styling cream and conditioner every two weeks or so. When I don't use enough of either of these, my hair is messy and hideous.

The key to taming messy, curly hair is to have a good shampoo, conditioner and styling product. I recommend using, Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Shampoo & Conditioner, and Curl Boosting Mousse. If you would rather use a gel as a styling product, I recommend Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel.
All of these work very well, and your curls will be beautiful when you use these products. Here's a tip: Never brush curly hair, because it makes it frizzy and very untamable.

I actually reccomended this one yesterday. There is a book called "Curly girls" (you can look inside parts of the book at amazon.com) that goes into curly hair and how to manage the curls and get the best out of them. Depending on your curl style (corkscrew, botecelli, or wavy) she reccomends a very easy way to wash, cut, and maintain your curls. The washing actually involves never using shampoo, only rinsing and "washing" your hair with a small amount of conditioner.
Other than that, the products others have reccomended here look good too. If I could reccomend anything it would be to use a wide tooth comb to gently comb through your hair after you shower. Add a small amount of hair lotion (I like Aussie) and let it air dry instead of blow drying.

I use Curls Up by Loreal and then scrunch it with some mousse after either: Curl Construct by Garnier Fructis or Totally Twisted Curl Boosting Mousse by Herbal Essences.
And always follow with a diffuser on a hair dryer for added curl.
Good luck!

Pantene makes this frizz-ease stuff. It's not regular frizz-ease but It's like that. It's in a small spray bottle. Works very well to smooth & get the knots out of hair. I think its called syrum or something.
