Well, me and this woman have went on a few dates. We get along and everything. But for some reason, we are both very nervous around each other. We try to talk about things, but we end up becoming quiet, and it can get a little awkward. We're both trying to get over this nervousness, but don't know how. We want to get to know more about each other, but like I said, we're both very nervous. What should I do?

When you are talking to this woman, try to do it more in the company of other men and woman who are at least acquaintances, or even better, friends of both your woman and yourself.

Having others in the same room when you and your woman are talking may make you less nervous and more talkative with each other.

When you have been talking with each other for a while and your conversation becomes quiet, it may be that there is nothing important to say on the topic. At that point, try another topic. Try a table activity, such as a board game or a card game. I doubt that you are both dull, uninteresting people. There are many things to talk about and many interesting activities that you two can do together that will give you both the opportunity to learn more about each other and to become more comfortable around each other.

Take it from this old fart. When you are old, you will be happy just having someone around with whom you can live in a civilized manner.

Maybe you could have a date that doesn't allow for those moments... like ice skating or roller skating, or bowling. Something that, if you fall or have a bad set in bowling, you'll end up laughing and won't have akward moments. Plus, these will be things you can bring up again later...

Good luck!

A comedy movie could be the answer. No one should have to try 'too hard' to break the ice. It could be that the two of you are just not suited. Two shy people aren't going to make it I believe but I could be wrong in your case.

Just bring up a topic you two can go on and on about, or have a movie on so it will make sense when your both not talking. If the silences spur up out of nowhere, maybe eat something, or try talking about something you know you can talk about allot or she will talk about allot.

Every time I hear the words "break the ice" coming from a man, i know that's a weak man and it's unmistakable. You can't get an answer here that will help you.

Do something competitive together, like bowling or arcade. It'll make for a fun date. Razz eachother a little bit and egg her on playfully.
