I'm a religious studies student, and so far, EVERY religion I have ever studied calls itself "Not a religion, but a way of life." How can EVERY religion NOT be a religion?

LOL.

Can't we just all agree that religions are also ways of life?

Religions ARE a way of life; it's part of the definition of "culture". Good luck; hope you have a good teacher!

Some would argue that Buddhism is more a way of life than a religion. For example look at South Korea which is Buddhist but where the vast majority in polls don't believe in god.

Excellent point. Perhaps it's because there are some people out there who profess religion, but don't really let it affect their way of life. I personally believe that if more people really lived the good principles their religions teach, the world would be a better place.

Heron: This is because religion is equated with culture - a way of life ! There's "religion" ... then, there's "spirituality" ! Religion is a way of life [practices, do's and don'ts] whereas, the other, Spirituality is about relationship with Jesus Christ ... diametrically opposite to one another. When you place religion where relationship should be, here's where trouble brews. God [Jesus]becomes a punisher - not a Savior, love becomes conditional (attributed to earning ones salvation with "do's and don'ts") and a distorted view of Him [Jesus] is formed. The Old Testament contains all types of religious practices - none of them leading to a relationship with God, as far as, the Israelites were concerned ! God ended up "divorcing" Israel ! Hope this answers your question.

it depends on how one thinks. Some thought of their own religion as oppressing as they are just following their duties so that they won't commit a sin and do not have the freedom of choosing their own beliefs as they are born with it. whereas others who have the freedom to beliefs thought of their religion as a way of life because they simply believe and do willingly thus to them religion is actually a way of life and i think this is what religion should be.

Something can be a religion AND a way of life but a way of life does not necessarily have to be a religion. If you want to get really anal, you can say that religions are a certain subset of what we consider "ways of life."

Religions are ways of life even if used and interpreted improperly like today's islamic fundamentalists or the early christians during the crusades.

Religion with Spirituality is a way of life but there is no religion without spirituality. So there is no religion which is not a way of life.A few doctrines in any religion may be exception.

I'm a member of a non mainstream path that has clear lines drawn to separate the spiritual world and the ordinary world. But it too does have an influence on ordinary life.

No.

Christianity is a reality, but also a way of life.

If you can't realize this reality, so be it.

It was not meant for you to hear His voice.

Christ said, My sheep hear My voice.

If you don't or won't hear His voice, so be it.

Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
