this may sound odd, but i use a pumus foot scrub on my face. (made by sally hensons) it exfolliates, and helps break down some of the dead skin (caused by scars) it helps to smooth feet, so im sure it could help to smooth the scars you have.

Home exfoliation will do very little. Your best bet is to see a dermatology for dermabrasion or light chemical peel.
He/she can give you price estimates. It's a good investment for a lifetime of much better skin.
