Depending on your hair style. I've seen cherry/burgundy color highlights on African American, it looks really good.

Hi. I'm African American as well. And I also have Black Hair. I just dyed my hair like 2 days ago. For African American Women/Teen Girls, you should go for Deep Dark Reds or Burgundies. Any color of Burgundy, that's the color I have my hair right now. It's kind of a Plum Color Burgundy. You should definitely go for Burgundy Colors. And if you want to dye your hair a Blonde Color, go for the darkest blonde color their is.
Make sure you get the Texture N' Tones or Dark and Lovely. Because you know we can't use certain Dyes. LOL

Maybe instead of dying it you should consider getting some extensions put in. You can just get a few around your face in dark blond or red or any colour you want. The only way for you to change your hair colour is to lighten it first with bleach and this can be pretty damaging but hair extensions won't do any damage and you can change the colours as often as you want. It's safer and not permanent!

I've heard that your hair type can easily be damaged and is hard to manage so be careful with whatever dye you use. If you want to do it at home do a semi-permanent color... red might be nice. Like a deep red. For anything permanent or bleaching (not a good idea), go to a pro. I think a bergundy/deep red would be pretty, though.

First of all your hair is black, and it's very hard to lighten, and you'll have to use a bleach, first and then color. But lucky for you they sell Feria Hi-Lift Browns for dark hair, so you can lighten your hair 2-3 shades in one application, and by doing, you will minimize the damage. and good luck.

well i am a hair dresser and i must say that getting your ethnic hair very light should be a no no....b/c it will damage it severely....I would go for some carmel hilights/some deep red first and if you wanna go lighter just keep getting chunkier hilights...and eventually you wll be lighter all over....just do it one step at a time....change is always good....but sometime gradually is best....especially if you don't like it..

hi
The best colour to go for is something that will make you look natural, something to match your gold skin and brown eyes try a dark brown with gold highlights...
