It's because we all have different background, different culture. I couldn't relate with you for thinking it was wrong for your parents to tell you that santa claus is real. But having faith on a supernatural being is a natural phenomenon since beginning of time.

Can you image the consternation a child has when they find out that all the years Mom and Dad told them about santa claus was all made up. What else are their parents lying to them about they might ask.
Yes it is wrong to do this to a child. Most kids today only care about the gifts people give them and not the conception of Jesus Christ that took place on the 25th of December.
Put away these things and never bring them up again. Tell your children the truth and don't sugar coat it with lies.><>

We have free will. God gives us choices in life. We have to chose what's right for us while still following the word of God. I was raised to believe in God and now that I'm older I believe because I know in my heart that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. We all need guidance. And Santa Claus was real in a sense. I'm pretty sure St.Nick was some guy who was named as a saint by the Catholic church because he was a generous and giving man. There has always been some sort of "Santa" whether it was Catholics or the Pagans. You should watch Christmas Unwrapped. It was on A&E this week. I'm sure it will be on again. Watch out for it.

God vs the toothferry, easter bunny or santa is not a fair comparission. People around the world have believed in a higher power during all times of existance. Some people have their rational side telling them that it is not true if they have not seen it. Other people have faith. Faith is not something that can be explained. Some people who grew up with faith in their family do not have faith. Others who had a family without a faith have faith. Some people are agnostics and do not know if there is a god or not.
I do not know what your question is. People have different beliefs and that will always be. Remember when the earth was thought to be flat?

I believe that the whole believing In Santa Clause, Is just a little trick people use to make Christmas More Exiting for The Kids.
Christmas In Reality Is A celebration of Jesus christ's Birth.
And i think long time ago, there was a real Santa Clause.
His story was just kept alive.
And unfortunately, there are alot of cruel people with bad hearts that really dont believe In anything.
It's kind of ridiculous though.
If you sit back and stare at all the things around us.
Or just by looking at our skin.
We do have a creator, because someone created us, this earth, and the ground in which we walk on.
People are just too caught up in the bad atmosphere of life that they dont actually sit down and think about it.

That is what you called LIFE. We were created to be different from each other, our opinion is our beliefs. If parents wants to tell their kid that Santa Claus is real, they have a good reason for that. what we can do is to respect other people's ideas and beliefs to avoid trouble. But don't get me wrong with my answer, it is still okay to express your opinion but you can't force somebody to believe in what you believe if they really don't want to.

zyp: Perhaps some people have proven God's existence for themselves, using the sciences. Santa Clause has no bearing on God's reality - none whatsoever ! Your feedback in getting arguments from people is from your position of both, being presumptuous and attacking people. You have been "brain washed" into believing there is no God ... would be a better perspective on your posting. You are far from "idealistic and down to earth", as demonstrated by your posting !!!

No one over 8 believes in Santa Clause, so I don't know where that came from. Believe in God is a completely individual choice. There is no clear cut evidence on either side that proves or disproves an existence of a god and both sides actually have decent arguments (the spiritual side more on the lines of things that science can't explain). I personally don't know what to believe and don't think about it too much. I don't think it will matter much in the end.

It depends on who you ask. There are people who want their children to believe that the world is a wonderful magical place. It's nice to be a kid and not know all of the evils in this world, plus I think it teaches a valuable lesson...true magic comes from within. As for God...there are many variations of who or what God is. Personally, I believe in God, however, I have friends who practice other religions that "God" isn't a part of. It's all a question of faith and what you feel is right for you. I guess what I'm trying to say is that people are brought up differently all over the world and that plays a large part in what our beliefs are...there really is no proper answer to your question.

Well freedom of choice also they believe into this thing because they need someone to rely their basis upon things such as why is their gifts under the christmast tree or why is there a sun and these things are made up when the people has less knowledged of science and it became a tradition ever since
