Could you be more specific?
Do you mean killing animals at all is horrible or the factory farms are horrible?
I think that, as far as any known Western Holy book is concerned, slaughtering an animal is okay with God, if done humanely. 'Cause there are religious slaughter rules. I can look up the scriptures, but would rather not...
I personally don't have a problem with eating animals, but I do have a problem with treating them poorly while alive or with killing them in a lingering way. Frankly, I figure that a quick death at the hands of a human predator is probably a lot better that a painful one from an animal predator or a disease.
I eat meat, but I try to eat meat from family--not factory--farms.

Probably. I mean theres a certain boundry and some people just cross it by a large margin. The way people just hunt animals for a hobby and they slaughter houses are just cruel. I am not a vegitarian although I have tried but I restrict myself to chicken and fish and shrimp. God created animals just as he did people and if its wrong to kill other people it should be wrong to kill animals and there are exceptions to every rule. I have a friend who says God created animals for us to eat and I say He also created vegtables and beans and other stuff so we didn't have to kill an innocent creature to eat. So in conclusion God would be dissapointed at our ignorance and incompassion.

No. Eating as much flesh as we do is decadent to say the least. Our slaughterhouse system is totally inhumane with animals often skinned alive, after a life of living in a cramped feed lot. They are surrounded by filth and forced to eat foods that they would not in the wild. How could anyone approve?
This goes way beyond should we eat meat or not, the question (I think) is How can we torture another being without showing any sympathy? Is that an enlightened viewpoint?

as an a atheist, i don't feel that rhetorical question is going to make many christians think twice, because the bible itself in the OT told people to kill animals to honor god and even after god voided that command, he still never made any command to not take animals' lives.

do animals slaughter their prey humanely? No. Its called survival, do whatever you can to survive and live to raise a family so the cycle of life can continue. We are the slaves of Mother Nature, nothing more

No, in the latter day scirptures it says that we are to eat meat only in times of winter and famine.
Its wrong what is going on and we are paying a price for it in our agriculture, physical health and the Lord is not pleased.
Only in times of winter or famine.......MODERATION with meat. The Lord loves animals too.

God gave us the animals for us to survive. As a sign of our respect, we can slaughter the animals not in a mean manner. We should raise them like how we raise ourselves. God would have been hurt of what we did to the animals raised and slaughtered horribly.

This is so interesting. Nowhere in your question did you suggest that eating meat was wrong, yet most answers are in defense of their "God-given right" to eat meat. Whether or not meat was necessary 2000+ years ago seems to have little to do with the cruel treatment of "God's creatures" today.

If you read your bible you would know that God says we can eat beef and lamb. In the bible they gave sacrificial lambs to God. These animals had to be butchered even back then to eat. One thing God told us not to eat is swine, and that is pig, yet many of us do. He didn't say that we would go to hell for eating it, he said it would make us sick. Read Leviticus and you will see what foods he says we can eat that will be good for us.
