You have every right to make them stop doing these test and the school can not label a child only a doctor can and if they try it can very well be a lawsuit. The IQ your child has is normal so they cant use that excuse to do the test. Tell them to take it up with your lawyer and your son's doctors if they want to pursue these test and see what happends then. Good luck and keep fighting for your child if you don't no one else will..

I guess the best way to avoid that is to home school your child, but even then they have to be given tests. The tests is how your child is judged that they are learning the material.
But I am guess that by your spelling and grammatical mistakes that you wouldn't be the best person to home school your child.
Also I school can't label your child as having ADHD only a doctor can do that.
I would much rather have my child tested for things then to not and have them slip through the cracks.
IQ (which by the way is a subjective TEST) has absolutely nothing to do with hyperactivity or inattentiveness. IQ measures your ability to learn.
Also the school is not in partnership with the drug companies, so the only interest they have in your child being medicated is for your child's own well being.
Also "ain't" isn't a word

I think you have a lot of misconception about learning disabilities. For instance, you say that ADD doesn't exist and that your child can't have it b/c he has a normal IQ. MANY kids with ADD have very high IQs. It's not about how smart they are, it's about how their minds process information.

Your child's teachers and counselors are testing him because he is exhibiting unusual behavior in class. There would be no other reason to do it. Their intention is to help him function at the same level the other students are working at. By refusing to learn more about the different types of learning disabilities and to recognize their existence, you are giving him one more obstacle to overcome.

Stop being such a proud person and recognize that we are all different, and that maybe you don't have all of the answers for once.

When it comes down to it, you don't have to turn to drugs to help him, but if he is having troubles he does need some extra help from you. The school would not be testing him if he was performing well, so you are going to have to make more of an effort to bring him up to the level he should be functioning at.

You could homeschool. I know that sounds far out but many children who are labeled just aren't being challenged. They are bored. Or the standard method of teaching children is not suited to the way your son learns. If your child is a kinesthetic learner he is obviously not going to enjoy being seated all the time in a class doing busy work.

they are suppose to get your permission to do that kind of testing.
also be careful cause if they do the testing and your child is labeled as having a learning disability. they can not hold the child back no matter how poorly they do in school as long as they are is some sort of special learning class

no-its a tool to gauge if the system is working for your child or not-if they are testing for a learning disability they are trying to find the system that will work for your child-an autistic child requires an enviornment that is different than the one for the ADD kid or the dyslexic kid. Don't you get caught up on the labels-simply accept them as part of getting your child the best education possible that meets their individual needs

It depends on what type of testing they are doing. If you suspect they are trying to make your child into a learning disabled child, set up a conference and see why. Your child may have ADD and need help. See the counselor and work together this is for the best interest for your child.

If it is a academic test to assess their learning, it is madatory and you must comply. However, psychiatric evaluations are another matter, and you never have to put your child on any medications or treatments you are uncomfortable with. For example if they are testing for behavioral disorders, approach the school administrator and tell them this. "I understand you have evaluated my child in the past in an attempt to label him with a behavioral disorder, however there needs to be no further testing and I have no intention of placing him on medication. If you would like to discuss other alternatives feel free to call me."

Uh, no. Tests are a part of our society. Deal with it. And do you mean "labeling?" because I'm pretty sure "labbling" isn't a word.
