Church of Egland is what is called a national Protestant church of which the King of England was formaly the head. This was previously called Erastrianism. Protestant churches are all basically reformed churches that broke away from communion with the Roamn Catholic Church because of its apostasy from the scriptures and elevating the traditions of man above the Holy Bible as a rule. Protestant means exactly what it sounds like, a protesting church, protesting against the terrible moral state of the Roman Church of that time. Other Protestant churches really have no politicla head but are self governed, they follow the teaching of Jesus , the separation of church and state.
Today though, most traditional Protestant churches have fallen away from faith as well and are just as bad if not worse than the apostate Roman Chruch of that time. In times past they broke awat to worship God according to the pure rule , now they have been taken over and watered down into social clubs. They only have an image of holiness left but not the substance.
Thank God the church is not made of brick and mortar or handed down physically, but it is a spiritual power. life, and institution ruled from heaven. Therefore it is wherever the Holy spirit of God is, and where even just two or three are gathered in the name of God and tremble at his Holy Word. The apostle Paul said " the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost". It is therefor not limited to a specific locale, as Jews and Muslims believe there are holy places. Christian believe wherever Gods spirit is and his people are , is holy. The scripture provide a very clear definition of it, so I would recommend you study the NT. Some organizations made by man, without the holy spirit of God and without following the rule of scripture, yet called churches do think that there are holy places and think very materially and earthly, Paul called this earthly mindedness. But this is contrary to the word of truth and purity.
May God guide you to the truth.
The idea that the church of England is a result of King Henrys' desire to divorce and remarry is way oversimplified.

Protestant refers to any Church which separated from the church of Rome at the Reformation,or any group descended from them. The Church of England is a result of King Henry VIII's break with Rome because the Pope would not annul his marriage to his lawful wife.

well there is no such thing as the Protestant church, theres a lot of different churches which would be classified as protestant, methodists, Lutherans, baptists
the Church of England is more in line with the Catholic Church in its beliefs than it would be to protestant churches, though even then there are alot of different beliefs

No, they are not the same.
Henry the Eighth started the Church of England in defiance of the Roman Catholic church because they wouldn't grant him an annulment of one of his marriages, so he just up and started his own church.
The Protestant church has it's roots in the theology of Martin Luther, who believed everyone should have access to the Holy Bible and relate to God directly.

the COE was founded by Henry VII to rebell against catholosism because according to catholosism he wasn't allowed to get divorced as many times as he did. So he forced the entire empire to convert to COE (wich later became known as protestant) Mary, his first daughter and sister to Queen Elizabeth I was greatly opposed to her fathers actions and when she became queen converted every back into Catholics. Alot of people didn't like this so they refused and when this happend she would seek them out and kill them (Hence the name Bloody Mary). Elizabeth her self was Protestant. The reason protestants are called protestants are because they were protesting the Catholic faith by de-converting. hence protest in protestant. protestants came to the U.S. for religious reasons fleeing Henry's and Mary's religious oppression.
interesting fact: The reason why Henry wanted to get divorced so many times was becuase none of his wives would produce him a son. he thought it was the woman's fault but no one knew at the time that the sex decider was found in men.
to clearly answer your question: yes they are the same
not all protestants are irish Angelz the U.S. was founded by protestants
