i was on a wet basketball court(smooth and flat) turned into a corner and slid and fell off and skid off my belly for1 feet, could this be prevented by replacing my old MTB tires with wider tires?
my tires are 1 inch and im thinking of getting tires that spread out away from the rim. thanks- a 13 year old boy who fell off and skid on the floor for 1 whole feet

Tires might make a difference but your technique is important too. You can lean a bike around a corner when there is good grip, but if it's slippery try to hold the bike more upright, steer rather than lean into the corner, and balance the bike so that if the front (or rear) wheel slides a bit you can still stay up. With this technique you can continue pedalling (pedalling gently can improve balance and grip).

Also - and this can be difficult to overcome - if you move your weight back because you are worried about falling over, it will make the front wheel more likely to slip (because there is less weight on it). If you can, go back to the court when it's wet (or find some slippery wet grass) and try all this stuff at a slow safe speed until you get a feel for what you can safely do (you can skid the front wheel in a turn at 2mph with a brief touch of the front brake and see how well you can keep balance and complete the turn). Then if you replace your tires you'll know how much difference they make.

I always corner as if it might be slippery, as before I learned all this stuff I fell on a dry road because of a tiny piece of damp grey clay I couldn't see. I have slid in corners since but have never gone down.

Tires might help, it depends on which tires you have and how worn out they are. Probably wider tires won't help on wet, though.
