Christians.

Most atheists have more of a tendency to hurl personal insults whenever a Christian asks an honest thought provoking question.

Most of the atheists on here do not want to know anything about religion or spirituality, so they are not sincere or earnest. Most of the Christians answer their questions with patience despite knowing that the question is rhetorical.

I have read a lot of insults coming from both sides, but there have also been some really good answers to questions on both sides as well. I don't think you can pick a winner here. Both have different interpretations of "noble intentions". To a Christian, it's noble to share your faith in the hope that someone will come to know God. An atheist doesn't think that's noble beause it's someone trying to change their way of thinking. An atheist thinks it's noble to be honest and say that they just don"t believe there is a God. A Christian doesn't think that's noble because they see God as offended by a lack of belief in Him. That is why it's hard to get the two sides together to agree on much.

I wonder what atheists noble intentions are? to convince Christians that there is no God? Why? How does it help people to not believe in God? Christians on the other hand sincerely believe they are helping atheist, even if some do it in a misguided way.Evolutionary scientist Stephen Jay Gould noted: "We may yearn for a 'higher' answer—but none exists." For such evolutionists, life is a struggle for survival of the fittest, death ending it all. There is no hope in that view. True Christians want what God wants: "that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth". - !Timothy 2:4 True Christians do all they can to impart this accurate knowledge to others.

The Christians argue with more noble intentions, we believe in the very real place called hell and don't want people to end up there. I'd have to call it a toss up about who argues more earnestly, though.

I believe in God, but I think that the Atheists probably have the better arguments. But I think that Christians mean well (some of them) when they argue, because they honestly feel that you have to be a Christian to get to heaven, so their intentions are good. SOME of the Atheists are just wanting to ridicule believers. Others are kind and respectful.

I believe that depends on the person(s) having the debate. Some atheists are very sincere in their beliefs and have very well thought out answers - others just say silly mean things about people of faith. Some Christians have very sound well thought out answers, some call names. I am a Christian and I try to give well thought out answers - often I simplify because a long answer will probably not be read.

Christians are truly not suppose to argue the word of God period...

Eph 4:29-32
29Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
30And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he is the one who has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
31Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior.
32Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
(NLT)

The atheists swear more, but the christians are just as nasty. Neither have noble intentions in mind, i would guess.

i don't know that there's much earnest or noble coming from either side of the debate.

but generally speaking ... Atheists seem better educated so have a more reasoned debating style. Christians get defensive easily, often resorting to Bible quotes and/or hurling hell threats.

The atheists argue the most ernestly because for them they are convincing themselves and have nothing better to do. Chritians and other religious people are defending for them the person that broght them life.
