I've had 22% dentist whitening gel in my closet for 2 years, and exposed it the air. Will it still work?

Should be fine. But if you're just starting bleaching, it might be better to use a lower concentration bleach first, 22% is very strong. Where I work, the bleaching concentrations we give are 10% and 15%.

What have you got to lose? Give it a go. At worst, it would just have become inactive.

well if it's not dried up it should still work.
