We all have tempers.
Have you always done this or has this just started recently? And do you just flare up?
Stress maybe?

Take a look at what's going on in your life right now.

I try to be careful about answering "Is so-and-so normal?" questions because "normal" means I should compare to the norm. If that's the case, no, I don't think it is "normal" for people to yell in their cars (I hope not while driving on a busy road) till they can no longer talk, all out of anger. However, it is normal to have all sorts of coping mechanisms for anger. If yelling does it for you and you aren't a singer or speaker or in some other profession dependent on your voice and you aren't putting yourself or other people in mortal danger because of your yelling, then that's fine. You're using a defense mechanism called displacement, or it could also be regression (did you scream a lot or get angry easily as a child?), and as long as they're used in moderation, defense mechanisms do help deal with stress.

However, if you really are getting tired of losing your voice, try some other avenue of release. It could be a hobby or a sport (something with a lot of contact, like soccer, boxing, or basketball might be good for you) - anything that sets your mind and body in motion toward something constructive.

I hope this helped. One last note though: the how of airing out is easy to answer. I'd wonder more about why you're so angry. It may be good if you tried to explore this as well.

Happy holidays!

I don't think I have ever heard of that...everyone vents in their own way of course, but if you don't feel better afterwards...I would hope there would be a lot more healthy way to show your anger. Maybe look into some anger management classes. A friend took them about a year ago and it is like night and day. He seems so much happier. His was court ordered as well, so he did not go voluntarily. Don't wait until your anger pushes its way out of the car and into the open where you or someone else could be seriously injured by it.

At least you have some place to let off steam, I would ask you what is frustrating you so badly, if you can get to the root of the problem you will not have to yell so much that you lose your voice. If you have the were with all I would suggest you talk to a councilor

are you yelling about the traffic?
Something currently annoying you nearby?
That is not uncommon although a little extreme.

If you are yelling about issues at work or from days ago
you may want to talk to a professional. you have pent up issues

No, this is not normal. There is/are something/s in your life that you are extremely angry about. I also suspect that you feel powerless to do anything about these issues.

I encourage you to find a good counselor who can help you identify these issues and help you find ways to resolve these issues and learn more effective coping skills.

It's much better to yell in your car than to yell at other people. At least you've found a way to vent without offending others. Great job!
