I don't think it's my heart, because the pains are on the right side.

I don't get them when running or doing sports, I usually get them once a day, when im sitting in class or sitting at home. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing them?

Theres no shortness of breath, and I don't get any other pains in my body. When I get them if I stay perfectly still, usually in a couple minutes I am pain free again.

Do you smoke? I used to get these when I smoked, but I quit almost 19 years ago and have never had them since.

HI, i I know you've been told this already, but you need to see your Dr. I'm an EMT and there could be any number of things wrong. Since there is no pain on exertion, it doesn't sound like any trauma has occured, but you may have bruised a rib or something else internally. Have you had any falls that you can think of ? You gall bladder is also located in the upper rt. quardrant, as is your liver, I doubt you would have pain that comes and goes as it seems to, but your Dr. would be the one to diagnose that. Good luck and feel better! I am in an internship at one of the hospitals here and would be interested in knowing what you find out, it's an interesting question. It could be a lot of things, but heart attack really can be felt in other places other than just around the heart. The left arm is a classic example. So really, it might be a good idea to get your heart checked out. Why not see a doctor about it at any rate? This is obviously really interfering with your quality of life.

Probably just a pinched nerve in the muscle. Does it hurt when you take a deep breath? These things come and go. If it becomes persistent see your doctor.
