Yes, you must maintain amateur status to play in college, as professionals may not play collegiate sports. Michelle Wie will not be able to compete for the Stanford golf team, as she's currently a professional and being paid for her performance.
Amateur golfers may play professional events, but cannot accept the winnings. Here's a question for you...who was the last amateur male golfer to win a PGA Tour event?

You can play college golf and on the pro tour at the same time, but you would have to remain an amateur on the pro tour, which means no prize money. If you went pro, you would be ineligible for college golf after you won your first check.

i'm a similar way in my courting with my lady chum. I play golf continuously. numerous situations, I even have observed that i do no longer provide my lady chum the time of day it quite is mandatory and required for a courting. one ingredient I did grew to become into to grant to pass golf along with her. despite if or no longer this is she drives the golf cart, walks with me, or perhaps hits some balls of her very own, doing the interest at the same time is large. additionally, i think of my lady chum ultimately known the theory that golf is a factor of my existence, as she is. If i grew to become into thoroughly in touch in lecturers, shouldn't she help me in what I do? yet, somewhat of starting to be a residing answering questions and being an analyst of particularly some matters, I even have had the present of enjoying golf o.k. and excelling at it on the collegiate point. So, what it comes right down to is you ought to settle for that golf is a factor of his existence. i know this is tricky to settle for on the start, yet believe me, as quickly as you get previous that, you're courting with him will grow to be lots deeper and intimate. wish that enables and luxuriate interior the beautful golf classes!

Once you play pro (which is for money), you are no longer aloud to play college. At least that's how it works for all other sports.

Nope sorry. The NCAA is very strict on this one. A professional Golfer can reclaim his armature status one time but the NCAA does not recognize that, the USGA does.

You can qualify to play professional events, but you cannot accept any money or prizes. You would be required to provide your own transportation, lodging, equipment, balls, etc.
