GOLDEN RETRIEVER!!!! Although they do shed, they are the most wonderful breed of dog to have in a house. Their excellent hearing will provide you with security. They are more loving and gentle with children than any dog on the face of the earth.

I like my Bernese Mountain Dog, he is a very calm house dog and he has a very sweet temperament. Just FYI all dogs can be chewers, I would just make sure that you have many things that the dog is allowed to chew on (it doesn't matter what breed you get).

Labs are good dogs however you have to realize if you get a pup they are ALL going to go through a chewing and biting stage UNLESS properly trained. ALL dogs go through a teething period. I have a 5 month old Bichonpoo. I know this is a small dog but to make a point I started teaching her at 12 weeks "no bite" for chewing people and "switch" when she chewed forbidden objects I would tell her "switch" and give her a toy or bone of hers. I have had NO biting or chewing problem with her. But this took a lot of diligence on my part to get her to this point. Puppies teeth and this is one of the reasons many dogs wind up in shelters. Good luck.

Any large breed of dog that fits your lifestyle. All dogs will chew, they do it when they teeth, and it also serves as a stress reliever when they are older as well.

If you're looking for a dog that will never chew anything, don't get a dog. They need to be trained to know what is and isn't ok to chew on.

I've got a 100lb lab, 100lb lab cross, a 45lb spaniel cross, and an 18lb pup (will be 50-60lbs) all living indoors with my family and I. No dog should live outdoors alone.

English Springer Spaniel (sorry for the mis spell word). They are huge dogs that are really smart and are perfect for homes. We had one but the only reason y we had to give it up was because we bought that dog from a farm and no matter how many times u wash the dog, it still stink like dog poop and wet dirt. It definatly doesnt chew on anything eaither, only things he should be chewing on like his toys and food.

I read that Greyhounds are the warmest, kindest, biggest house dogs with a heart to match.

All dogs chew. Get a stuffed toy instead, since you'll probably turn it into the shelter as soon as it puts a foot wrong.
