No because God is perfect. We need it because we sin.

Muslimah, I can understand why you are asking this question because Islam teaches that man has lost his way. So long as man continues to follow his own mistaken ways, or worship false gods, his present life is meaningless and his eternal destiny is imperiled. But if one repents and submits to Allah, one can be forgiven. This forgiveness does not require any kind of atonement ( Surahs 17:15; 35:18 )

Jesus was here in human form. The Bible teaches that sin is the failure to live up to God's standards ( Romans 3:23 ). It involves moral rebellion against God, thereby severing our relationship with Him (Isaiah 59:2 ). The penalty for sin is spiritual death ( Romans 6:23 ). Because sin is such a dire problem, a powerful remedy is needed. This is found in the atonement wrought by Christ at the cross. ( Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 10:18-22)

Jesus did not have to die on the cross, He gave His life. He fulfilled the Bible prophecy. His sacrificial death paid for my sins, all of them. And I am thankful for Him, because I would not make it to my Father's house by law.

Yes and No. We're the ones who NEED to atone. And without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. That's what God requires, but He doesn't NEED anything per se. Jesus provided that blood atonement. Why? I dont know why blood is required.

primitive humans created such brutal deities out of fear. natural calamities were considered the wrath of some immensely powerful invisible being who if not appeased by the nasty death of some poor creature would surely punish the trembling natives further or maybe the crops didn't do so well last season so best sow the soil with blood. oh the tortures innocents have endured due to superstitious fear and ignorance. amazing that so many people still believe in such pointless cruelty nearly into the year 2007.

If there is a invisible super being that created all the universes one might imagine that such a being would be above the brutal primitive desire for blood appeasement.

No.

God saves by assuming fallen human nature.

He descended into the depths to find us where we were: in the shadow of death.

The juridical model of the Atonement is false, or at least, incomplete.

Read "The Atonement" by the Lutheran scholar Gustaf Aulen.

We need the atonement God provided his own blood to pay for our sin. God is righteous he will not say your sin is okay. God does provide a way for those who accept the atonement he provided.

Not anymore. Jesus blood didn't just atone, (or cover like animal blood did in the past)....it completely cleansed. Christ's blood is sufficient.

Well he started the tradition when he ripped the skin off a living sheep to make garments for Eve & Adam. And he liked it so much that he decided shedding blood is the best way to forgive sins. Well god works in mysterious ways I suppose.

Watch how you won’t get a proper answer to your question of “WHY?” That’s because they don’t comprehend the question.

God doesn't need anything. He's totally self sufficient.

It is we who needed Christ's atoning sacrifice, as it was the only way to destroy Satan's evil dominion, and to obtain man's ultimate freedom from Satan, sin, and death.

Once man was free, sins could be forgiven.

Suppose a certain man went before a judge that was totally Just. This man had broken the law. In this case, he was unclean and could not go into Heaven. Therefore, he is to be thrown into Hell.

But, Jesus, or for Jews lambs and bulls, the price is paid by the innocent blood of Jesus. So, you can be forgiven.

Are those people who say that Jesus needed to die saying that god couldn't forgive people without the blood of Jesus (which is to say his own blood) being shed? What kind of a non-omnipotent limitation is that? Kryptonite makes more sense.

I am the all powerful god. I can do everything, see everything, be everywhere. Oh, except for forgiving you. For that you have to kill something first.

And you people believe this?
