I'm making a punch for xmas that consists of 7up, lime sherbet, and marachino cherries. Every year I make it, it gets warm within an hour or two so it is thrown out and prepared again. If I freeze the soda, will it lose its carbonation when it melts in the punch?

Yes it does I have done this before and after it has thawed it tastes like flat soda.

The thing I would do is make the punch has normal but what you should try is freezing some extra 7 up in ice cube trays and then add it to the normal punch. I think if you do it this way the punch made normally with be strong enough so when the ice cubes melt off it will not taste flat.

If you try this let me know how it turns out. Good Luck!!

Yes, it will. If it's still contained in the bottle, though, you will keep it.
