I understand what you're saying. I personally LOVE coffee, but my husband can't stand the smell.
I don't agree with the others that you should force yourself to like it by drinking it. After all, you're a grown up, and if you don't like it, you just don't.

I would suggest he drinks coffee when he's not around you. (Ex: at work, afternoon, or whenever you're not together.) He could also try washing his mouth after he drinks a cup. Or chew gum.
And you, you could try to accept that he'll drink it because he truly enjoys it. I drink my coffee when my husband isn't around. In the morning, or after work with my friends at Starbucks. This seems to work. When I'm at home, and he's home, I stick to tea.

Have you ever tried using coffee in cakes and muffins and such?. I personally think it doesn't have the same taste as plain coffee. Interestingly, my husband loves coffee in sweets. Go figure!

Definately try some flavored coffee. You might like the smell better. You could try establishing a coffee zone and no-coffee zone so you can retreat if you don't want to smell it or he can retreat after he makes it. You could try an odor eliminator, not a spray but one of those silica gel kind in a plastic tub. I had one for the litter box when I had cats and you couldn't ever smell a thing. It should cut down on some of the smell. If worse comes to worse, buy him a Starbucks (or whatever his favorite coffee shop is) giftcard for the holidays and tell him to spend the day out on you. :)

with time i think one gets round a lot of hurdles,am i right in assuming this is relatively new problem you are facing .will it help to say that with a bit of effort you may learn to tolerate or even like the smell of coffee, till then it's sad to think you will be missing out on each others company while you both enjoy your favourite beverages.

We have one of those "one cup" Kuerig coffee makers. You can't smell it brewing in the house and it doesn't sit around for you to have to smell it.
