Puppy's play rough. It is what they do. Normally the puppy will play with the other puppies in the litter and if you watch the puppy he will stop when the others make a distressing sound. My dogs did the same. Is your cat seriously injured? I would imagine that when your cat is scared she/he makes a rather harsh sound, and the puppy should let loose by then. Are you sure they are not just playing? I don't know how you can train him to play less hard, but you can always enroll him in obedience classes so that this way you can tell him to stop when you are not comfortable with it. With large breeds obedience training is always a good idea anyway.

Your cat will avoid the puppy if he doesn't want to play, or drive him away if he gets angry. Neither animal is dumb enough to hang around and get mauled! Bullmastiffs will accept any creature as a family member... cats, hamsters, birds, etc. Just take the time to get them aquainted.

You have to put the dog in check with firm obedience training. This breed is aggressive by nature. And, aside from that, I have seen a dog treated for a scratched cornea (inside eye) from a cat!

Seperate them... the puppy just wants to play, and the cat will suffer.
