Muscle spasms are not related to hypothyroidism. See your doc for this symptom and the diagnosis. (Listen to quacks only when you think your own doc is a quack.)

Good luck!

I have had thyroid disease (hypothyroidism) and also have taken replacement thyroid for almost 30 years, and yes it can cause muscle spasms. Believe me, I get them so bad at times it awakens me from a dead sleep. Needless to say, I'm a hard sleeper and I wake up in tears some nights, You have to keep in mind though, so can low potassium and magnesium, along with dehydration cause spasms... drink plenty of water (fluids). I'm sending a very informative website, the author is fabulous. You really should do a search yourself and learn as much as you can. There are a lot of good sites out there and also some really good message boards.
Good luck to you ~

The muscle spasms has nothing to do with hypothroidism. You need to see the doc if your are having muscle spasms and want some help for it. The spasms are not related to your disease.

i would say the muscle spasm are due to lack of SODIUM rather than hypothyroidism.
try to at a littel more salt or drink liqurice (root beer)which helps to retain sodium
note that hypothyroidism may be associated with adrenal gland dysfunction which means inability to secrete a hormone that retains sodium so you end with sodium defficiency.
good luck

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits low on the front of the neck. Your thyroid lies below your Adam’s apple, along the front of the windpipe. The thyroid has two side lobes, connected by a bridge (isthmus) in the middle. When the thyroid is its normal size, you’re unlikely to be able to feel it.
All types of hyperthyroidism are due to overproduction of thyroid hormones, but the condition can develop in several ways.
Thyroid hormone production can be suppressed or halted completely in these ways: https://tr.im/eN96l
