Sorry, but if there was an answer to that question, there would only be one insurance company in existance... but there are thousands of car insurance companies out there. The most trusted source for insurance company ratings is AMBest (www.ambest.com). They provide financial rating for insurance companies. You should look for a company that has an A rating or better.
You can also search google and epinions.com. As far as pricing is concerned. Just shop around... alot. And every few years, continue to shop around. Just becuase you got the best price now... doesnt mean it will still be the best price 5 years from now.

Till now there is no difference between the premiums charged by any company in India. It may be going to change from next year. In my opinion you may ask your nearest friendly work shop to know with whome they have a tie up. This does not mean that you should take the policy from that dealer or work shop. you can take it from any where, like directly from the company branch office oe from me. The charges depends on the IDV (value declared by you) for a new car it is 95% of the invoice price. of the car and the accessories to be insured and the liability to the paid driver and accident cover for un named passengers. About service it depends on the man who cares you and not the company.

if you're in the armed forces then you need to check out USAA. If not then shop around to see who gives you the best coverage for the best price. Beware of "cheap insurance" companies, the premiums maybe very low but so is the coverage.

Try google or other search engines. they will give you more info than you need. Then pick one of your choosing. This takes a few guts on your part, because you will not have any one else to blame.
To prove my point, have you ever had any one to tell you, "I was driving a nail with my hammer, and decided to hit my thumb instead of the nail" No way, a bird flew over, the nail head was slick, etc. Never I just hit my thumb with the hammer..
