I'm a Christian and I take medication too. You really have to see your body as spirit, soul and body. The body is a physical being and prone to diseases, depression, etc. Just like it can get cancer, diabetes, lupus, or any other type of disease. I thank God that He gave the knowledge to scientist to make medications to help people. Don't listen to Satan when He tells you that you're not being a good Christian, he is the father of lies and guilt. The most important thing as a Christian is your relationship with Jesus Christ. Hope this helps and be blessed!

If you have a mental illness, you have an illness. That's why they call it an illness.
There are too many people around who would like to tell people that "it's all in their head". Well, it is... the brain is an organ, just like the heart, and it's in your head.
Do Christians tell someone who has coronary artery disease that they have it because they don't have faith? If they do, that's BS.
I have a mental illness... a couple actually, and I take medication so that my illness will not affect my ability to function. If I stop taking my medication I become quite ill and act irrationally. Some tell me that medications are a problem, but I know with certainty that I'm a danger to myself if I stop taking them.
Do the responsible thing. You have a diagnosed illness. You require the medication to properly adjust the seretonin (or whatever) levels in your brain. It is as much a physical problem as is diabetes. Just as you wouldn't tell a diabetic that she simply needs faith, rather than medication, you shouldn't be slighted for needing a medication for your disease.

No, I do not think that being depressed is not having faith in God. You said that you do have a problem mentally, so you kind of answered your own question. It does not have anything to do with your faith in God. If you are taking medication under the supervision of a doctor, keep taking it. Talk to your doctor about these problems. Good Luck to you, keep your spirits up you are doing the right thing.

Believe it or not but I lost 4 years of my life being depressed. I was too stubborn to take my medication cause I thought the reason why I was depressed all the time was legit. I prayed my heart and soul out for god to help me, it sent me in a roller coaster of emotions. At the end, gods answer was to take the medication. It changed my life and now I'm still in the process to get back on my feet. I wish I had took it sooner. Clinical Depression is not a lack of faith in god, its a sickness. Praying does help. God understands and loves you no matter what.

One has nothing to do with the other. Please hear me. Clinical depression is a physical disorder. The neurons pathways in your brain don't allow impulses to jump as easily as they should. This is usually hereditary and can be intensified by stress.
You take the meds to help the brain function normally. And God bless meds.
I've been a Christian for 26 years and when I went into clinical depression in '94, I thought what you are thinking, so I did a lot of checking up on how the condition actually affects us, and this is what I found.
It's the same thing as if you were diabetic and needed insulin. Would you feel as if you were a faithless Christian if you took it? Of course not.
Enjoy your regained health and thank God for it!

Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance. this imbalance does effect ones thought processes so that you tend to view things negatively. However, do not fall into the trap of thinking that your illness is evidence of a lack of faith or of being abandoned by God. If you had diabetes would you feel unfaithful for taking insulin? Neither should you feel that way because of needing medication for depression. And yes you should take joy in your victories.

It looks such as you're ripe for the pickens to me. pass on your nearest church and get on your knees; bask interior the large difference of that which you won't be ready to verify. enable your faith blind you from fact; and instruction manual you into loss of existence with peace. while individuals are close to loss of existence, they hallucinate. Thats the techniques shutting down. Your sensory isn't precise at that ingredient. So needless to say you spot or hear issues that at the instant are not actual, because of the fact your techniques is firing indicators that at the instant are not in-line with stimuli. Thats like asserting when I holiday acid (LSD) i'm feeling God's presence. Its silly. If there grew to become into an all understanding all benevolent God, he does no longer enable lots evil and suffering exist interior the international till he's masochistic. think of roughly it. He knew each and every of the suffering that should come from his creation in the previous he created it if he grew to become into particularly all understanding. And, if there is particularly an all understanding God then he knew you're able to at last burn in a lake of hearth for eternity on the very day you have been born. SO, why could he damn you to such if he's so benevolent? loose will my ***. You cant have it the two techniques. the two you are the alpha and omega or you arent. And while you're omega, then you certainly know the destiny. And in case you knew it may be this gruesome and made it so-- is mindless. perhaps we've been created via some astounding skill-- however the way the Christian faith explains creation is mindless. Its incorrect. this is logically unsound. and you will must be loopy to particularly quite believe it (which in all probability isn't a subject from you judging via the way you worded your question you look waiting to plunge into the deep loopy end) . don't be a coward. Pull your self up via your individual boot straps. The adversity you have confronted in existence has in straightforward terms made you better. end beating your self up approximately it and say "I OVERCAME THIS HELL, no longer something CAN convey ME DOWN" do no longer worry the destiny. Dare it to undertaking you.. considering which you're a human; and you have been born to triumph over adversity.

No, depression is an illness, not a lack of faith. Do people get cancer or diabetes or the flu because they don't have enough faith? No. Disease is disease and you should stick with the medication if it's working for you. Don't invent reasons to feel guilty; some people would argue that God invented depression medication because He wanted it to be used.

No I do not believe depression is caused by a lack of faith or as the preacher at my mother's church believes, a secret sin that has not been confessed. I suffer from depression and was on medication when I could afford it. It can be caused by many factors stress, upheaval in your life, even a chemical imbalance in the brain.

Depression arises from many sources and commonly chemical imbalnces in the brain, that is why most meds for this are SSRI's
(Selectve Seratonin Reuptake inhibitors) to deal with an imbalance of seratonin.
There are other meds too. I have mild depression and am treated very well with another class of depression med. result is still the same. I feel much better with it than without.
In creating us in his image, God gave us intelligence and the ability to learn. Doctors use their intelligence and knowledge to help us. The Dr. gave you the anti-depressent to help you.
If it helps you feel less depressed, stay with it!
I am a christian, minister.. and while my guess is less fundamental in my interpretatoins of the devil, etc, than are you, I can assure you this is not caused by a Christian weakness and taking your meds are not a weakness either. You are using your God-given intellect to discern that you need this to help you cope better. God is plaeased when he sees us use our intelligence, not upset.
God Bless you and Merry Christmas!
