Are you only letting the dog out in the yard? If the dog is not walked on the sidewalk or street their nails are going to grow faster and stay longer. The sidewalk and street help wear them down as you walk them. Get the nails cut and make walking on the sidewalk or street part of your daily routine. The nails won't have to be cut as often.

They will always grow back. Maybe, your not clipping them short enough. If your not experienced with clipping nails it is easy to cut into the cuticle. This makes them bleed and it hurts. If you take her to the vet he can show you how to clip them without clipping too short. You can also file them some if they seem sharp after clipping. If your dog tolerates it. Good Luck.

you should not ever completely cut off dogs toe nails, I'm guessing by the way you describe the nails, that your dog is still a puppy or young dog. in any case the nails need to be trimmed only. if you have a yard let the dog spend time outdoors and it will dig in the dirt and wear down its nails itself most of the time. if you cut the nails off completely you are going to cause serious health concerns with the dogs feet. if anything take it to a vet and have them trim them. its not very costly to have it done.

you need to get them trimmed more frequently. As the nail grows out the quick grows with it. the more often you trim them the shorter they will eventually get. You can also have them cut back which she will need to be sedated for and then afterwards get them trimmed professional (your vet or the groomer) every couple of weeks. You can also have them drummeled (filed) so that they arent as sharp after being trimmed

Dog toenails are like people toenails in that they need to be trimmed on a regular basis.

Once cut you can buff them down so they are not too sharp.

A grooming shop will usually cut your dogs toenails for a small price; I charge four dollars per dog.

Other than keeping them trimmed, there really is not much you can do.
