Byte:
Abbreviation for binary term, a unit of storage capable of holding a single character. On almost all modern computers, a byte is equal to 8 bits. Large amounts of memory are indicated in terms of kilobytes (1,024 bytes), megabytes (1,048,576 bytes), and gigabytes (1,073,741,824 bytes).
Bit:
A bit (binary digit) refers to a digit in the binary numeral system, which consists of base 2 digits (ie. There are only 2 possible values: 0 or 1). For example, the number 10010111 is 8 bits long. Binary digits are almost always used as the basic unit of information storage and communication in digital computing and digital information theory.

What is a Bit and What is a Byte?
You have heard these terms mentioned frequently in reference to the size of a file, the size of a folder, the size of your entire hard drive as well as the size of the memory installed in your computer. These Bits and Bytes usually contain a prefix denoting their size in thousands, millions and even billions. But you don’t have to pay much attention to this now as they will be covered later.
Therefore, every time you type a single character on your keyboard such as the letter "T" within a text program such as Windows Note Pad, this single keyboard character consist of one Bit of information. For example, if you type the word "Keyboard" into Note Pad, this word consists of eight letters and is equivalent to eight Bits of information. The information is actually written in computer code, but you don’t have to worry about that. For now just get the concept that one keyboard character equals one Bit of information.
So now that you have this down, let’s talk about the Byte. A Byte simply consists of eight Bits of information and that’s all there is too it. So when you type the word Keyboard, which contains exactly eight letters and is equivalent to eight Bits, you now have one Byte of information. So once again eight Bits is equivalent to one Byte. So just get the concept that one Byte is equivalent to eight characters typed on your keyboard.

Thatz not Bites buddy. Its "Bytes".
In computer terminology everything in the lower level are considerred to be zero's and one's. so if you want to store something in the memory, you could not store directly. you have to convert it into bytes and store it.
One byte consisit of eight bits. A Bit may a 1 or 0.
so if you want to save 1 in your computer memory then you have to save it as 0000 0001.
There are actually eight number and all the eight are called bits and the total eight bits are called bytes.

Its spelled bytes. Bytes are the building blocks of memory. Kilo-bytes are the next unit of memory(abb. K), than mega-bytes(MB)
The next one is giga-bytes(GB)
