I am reading a book written about Muslim customs and it said that the men do not urinate stand up, Is this true??? I have never heard this before. PS I am not being funny..

yeap they sit down so the urine does not splash in their clothing making them unclean for prayer

Yes, it is true.
A Muslim has to keep track of his/her cleansiness, and if a person urinates standing, then there can be doubt of cleansiness due to the chance of splashing some urine on the clothing.
Islam cares for the cleansiness of the inside as well as the outside.
That's what I know.

I've been to Iraq 3 times with the Marine Corps and I can say that it is true. Muslim men squat whenever they urinate or defecate. You should see their public restrooms.

Yes it's true. I believe that it's haram (not permissible) to urinate while standing in Islam.

they only do that so it doesn't splash back on them; but now-a-days most men have mastered the art and stand..
