Swallowing a teaspoon of sugar has always worked for me. I don't know the logic behind it but it works.

Hiccups are caused by spasms in your diaphragm, so you need to try and put pressure on your diaphragm to get them under control. That's why holding your breathe usually works, but you have to bear down and feel in in your diaphragm for it to make any difference.

Think of three bald men walking down a street with brick buildings and in the form of a triange. Concentrate really hard on this image

This gets you mind off the hiccups and you think of something else so the hiccups stop...this has helped me a couple of times. Its different than the normal cures

there are two options,

One: take a slow deep breathe in thru your nose only and when you reach the end of your breathe hold it for about five to ten seconds, then slowly let it out through your mouth only. Repeat if necessary

Two: take a heaping tablespoon of sugar and swallow it without water. make sure you ahveit all down then take a slow drink of room tempurature water. Not cold not hot. Just room temp.
Repeat if necessary

1)Tickle your diaphragm(just under ur ribs)
2)Get someone to slap u on the back unexpectedly(not too hard)
3)Get someone to scare u.
4)Drink water, not too much, not too little.
5)Hold ur breath for abour 30 or 40 seconds.
In the case of 2 and 3, it'll work because u'll gasp and this can balance the excess air in ur trachea and lungs.

Please do not attempt if u have heart problems like hypertension or are pregnant.

> dont breathe for a few seconds
>try to burp air because that's the main cause of hiccups
>drink plenty of water, make sure that you don't drink air with it.
