Recently, LCDs have taken a significant lead in the high-definition flatscreen TV race. Screen sizes between the two technologies are comparable but that's where the similarities end. LCDs are lighter, cheaper to ship and sturdier (no expensive and heavy glass is necessary). Also, if you look to emerging LCD brands (such as Olevia) you can find some real bargains. Mounting and moving LCDs can still be cumbersome and difficult once you get into the larger sizes (40" and above) but tends to be much easier than a plasma of the same size (those suckers'll break your back). Plasmas can suffer burn-in (ghostly images seen on the screen after the power is off) though this is less common now. LCDs use less power (save on those electric bills). Both TVs have extremely long display lifes (some up to 60,000 hours). Contrast ratios are slightly better on Plasma TVs but for many, the added cost, weight and fragility are just not enough reason to go Plasma. Remember to read reviews online of any TVs you think you might be interested in getting (it definitely helped me with my purchase - and I love my year-old flatscreen LCD)! Good hunting!

The LCD is the best because it will not Clare in the light and it will last 10x longer then a plasma. The plasma is not for well lightes rooms because all the light will reflect off the glass screen. And the LCD is for well lighted rooms with alot of windows or have a lot of lights but they only make them up to 46in but are alot better.

From what I've read, the Plasma should last about 10 years before it dims to 50% brightness, the LCD should last a bit longer than that.
