More nuclear power plants would be a great addition to our national energy supply. The major obstacle is the anti-nuclear dogma that exists in America. A modern nuclear power plant would produce large amounts of energy with very little pollution. There is also very little risk; the 3 mile island accident was a pretty severe mess up and still only exposed people within 10 miles to an average of 8 millirem (about the same as a chest x-ray) (wikipedia). There may even be modern methods for processing radioactive waste available.

Nuclear power plants aren't perfect and carry their own problems but with rising fuel cost and major emission problems from burning fossil fuels, they would supply some much needed diversity to our national energy supply.

Given the fact that fossil fuels are soon (within 20-60years) to run out. Given the fact that world population is growing along with the need for more enery. Given the fact that other fuel/energy alternatives will decimate the world's ecosystem. Given the fact that other fuel source options so listed by scientists are net energy losers we can surmise that Hydrogen and nuclear energy will be the only alternatives for future energy producers. Read in between the lines.

yes, it will be a very expensive investment, but it is needed
we cannot depend on oil for another 10-20 yrs.

and we need to quit telling iran and korea not to use it, nuclear and solar energy may be the way of the future

Yes. Yes we should. But we do have the ability to produce more alternative power supplies. We are Americans...and we need to revitalize the 'Can Do" attitude we had during the industrial revolution.

I think it is the best way to meet our energy needs. Since our population/Area is large compared to many other countries, it will be safe also.
