In my experience, freezing ruins chocolate. A snickers is good frozen, but chocolate for baking, or plain chocolate bars have a funny taste, and texture even after just being refrigerated.

Yes, you can freeze chocolate, but you must do it correctly.
First wrap it in freezer paper, and then put it in at least TWO good quality freezer bags with as much air removed as possible. You'll have better results (chocolate will keep longest) if you use a vacuum sealer bag machine instead of the regular type of freezer bags
Then to defrost the frozen chocolate, bring the chocolate to room temperature BEFORE opening the package (will take some time, set it out overnight the day before you plan to use it) and this will eliminate any condensation from forming on the chocolate. If you sealed the chocolate properly it should taste just as it did before being frozen.

Chocolate is very sensitive to temperature and humidity. Ideal storage temperatures are between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius (59 to 63 degrees Fahrenheit), with a relative humidity of less than 50%. Chocolate should be stored away from other foods as it can absorb different aromas. Ideally, chocolates are packed or wrapped, and placed in proper storage with the correct humidity and temperature. Additionally chocolate should be stored in a dark place or protected from light by wrapping paper. Sunlight may warm up the surface of the chocolate and cause it to turn 'grey' from the formation of cocoa butter crystals; the taste may be slightly different due to the altered cocoa butter.

Freezing would extend the life of the chocolate, but it wouldn't taste exactly the same. I have frozen chocolate from time to time and it is still good, but somehow you can tell it has been in the freezer
