Dear ElevenEle,
i would not trust anyone to "edit" the Bible. The Bible is clear that one should not take away or add to the word of God. There are contemporary translations which put the Bible in a more modern vernacular to make understanding easier-- but no matter how great a church leader may be at the end of the day he is just a man.
The Bible was written by men who were given the words to pen by the Holy Spirit.
One could ask will can't people today be filled with the Spirit? Yes. But God would not ask them to "re-write the Bible" because He has clearly expressed the perfect and eternalness of His word.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

I wouldn't trust anybody to edit the Bible, because it's not meant to be changed or edited. By anyone.

Because, after 1700 years, nearly everyone knows exactly what the Bible contains, and if they made any errors or omissions, it would be immediately apparent.
