Any of the larger Cockatoos such as the Umbrella and the Moluccan Cockatoo. The Moluccan is like a baby, and demands constant attention, actually the Moluccan is the most demanding of the parrot species when it comes to it's need for attention. But, they make great pets. Cockatoos are usually very noisy though and create more dander from their skin and feathers than any other parrot species as well. If you are looking for a somewhat smaller lovebug, I would go with the Galah or Rose-Breated cockatoo. They are just as cuddly as their bigger family members, just smaller.

I would have to answer that with it depends on the birds character. I have been involved with parrots for a lot of my life and have seen some fantastic birds that are part of the family and, yet others, that are so mischevious that the owners wanted to wring their necks!
I have seen a Macaw sleeping in the bed of its owner, cuddled up and warm. I have seen a Galah, every time it was let out, attack women. My mother had a budgie that was not happy unless it was curled up next to her ear or helping her knit a jumper.
I have seen a cackatiel that malicious that it would say, "Give us a scratch" and nearly savage the finger to the bone.
African Greys that dote on their owners and will not let anyone else in the room. I had a baby Sulphur-crested Cockatoo I rescued with a broken wing. Initially, it did cause me several packets of Band Aids, but the grief came when I had to get did of the bird because Harry was breaking up my marriage. He did not like my wife. He is now very happy with a young lady who has him out every night.
The most lovable that I have ever seen was a male Eclectus that went free flying, out in the wilds, whenever the weather was good. One of the best talkers I have ever heard and faithful to the owners. Gentle as a lamb and loved a scratch. His mate was completely different. Both were hand reared by the same person. The female just wanted a piece of anyone who went near her.
So I guess it comes back to the birds character.

Cockatoos by far are some of the most lovable of parrots. Keep in mind, however, that they are also very demanding of attention and love. If they do not get the attention they need, they may become very noisy and start mutilating themselves (feather plucking). Also, they are avid chewers. The much smaller cockatiel can be very loving, too. Cockatiels are far easier for most people to handle and care for, plus much less noisy.

if you are looking at getting a companion bird, i would recommend doing research on several types from the small paroletts to the differant types of conures, quakers, up to larger meduim sized birds like african greys, cockatoos species , then the larger macaws/ cockatoo species. Decide on how much you want to spend on a bird and cage, and yearly expenses.... then just go out and hit the bird stores there will most likely be quite a few shops around that have a variety of birds and do some "meet and greet". See which bird gravitates to you, and that will most likely be the bird for you, sometimes its best to let the bird pick its owner

I had a cockatiel and it was smart and very friendly. Once I learned how to handle him. he sang and said everything. He even did jingle bells. he learned the Andy Griffith theme song , he learned how to snore. His favorite hobby was to torment my cats, because he knew the cats would be in trouble if they went after him. I even have a picture of the bird and cat eating off the same sandwich. The bird liked the bread and the cat got the ham.The males are the prettiest of the birds . that's how you can tell the difference between male and female. Weird but true. Good luck finding your bird. Have a very Merry Christmas.

Out of all I've known, the umbrella cockatoo is the most snuggly and devoted.

A hand raised one, they will trust you and love you for life. Mine is approximately 10, and supposedly will live 10 more years, what a precious friend I have.

I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH COCKATOO. ALTHOUGH I DON'T OWN ONE, THE ONES I'VE MET JUST LOVE TO BE HELD AND CUDDLED BY THEIR OWNERS. THEY'RE REAL SHOW-OFFS TOO. TO GET YOUR ATTENTION THEY'LL PUT ON A SHOW AND DANCE ROUTINE THAT WOULD RIVAL THE STARS ON TELEVISION.
