Whenever anyone here posts a question that people perceive to be anti-christian, that Christians quickly get on the defensive and are quick to condemn you. Is that what your God teaches, to be intolerant of the beliefs of others? I wonder how many hate messages I'm going to get this time from so called "Christians?"

lol havent you read your history? conform or be conformed religion has been running the show for a long time...humanity will forever cling to the idea of some divine and righteous being...who every now and again does some really horrid things...like allow anyone to burn in a lake of eternal fire...simply because they were born in a part of the world that didnt believe in the right god.

Being a bit judgmental, are we? And a little quick to put all Christians into one category, which isn't fair. I am a Christian, and I believe that you are free to think whatever you choose, live however you decide, and go wherever you please, just as long as you allow me the same courtesy. I may tell you about God, or mention Him during a conversation, because He is an important part of my life, and if you want to talk about my beliefs rationally, I am all for it. I would like to hear about your beliefs, too. I don't think I am intolerant and I am certainly not going to condemn you. I think it is interesting to discuss and interact with people of other faiths - or of no faith. I could learn something. You might be surprised what you could learn from me, if only you would stop condemning me and calling me names and chucking me into a category that you don't like and I don't fit. This isn't a hate message, and I truly hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

Look hun. I grew up in Dayton, TN, the Bible Belt of the South, and I know that many Christians are very quick to judge and act in a very un-christian like manner, but not all of us are like that. My Mims is a Bible tapper, while my mother and sister don't believe at all. My boyfriend is a strong christian who once told me that because I didn't listen to Gospel music, I didn't really believe in God and my best friend is from India and has a whole different view on God. I'm a Christian. I believe everyone is entitled to there own beliefs. And yes, I think what I believe is true or I wouldn't believe it, but God gave us a gift. Our minds and we should use it. Discuss your beliefs with others. Those kinds of conversations are healthy, but no one should turn it into a hate fest. Respecting each other is key, and I'm sorry for all the Christians who have offended you. They know not what they do.

Your stereotyping Christians. I'm a Christian and I've never "lashed out" at someone just because they disagree with my beliefs.

Yes, I'll agree that some Christians do get defensive but that's not following what Christ taught us. You'll find the real Christians who behave in truth and righteousness. Don't judge the religion on the basis of the behaviors of the ones who follow it, base it on it's source, Jesus Christ.

I don't believe the "christians" react to non-believers questions any worse the non-believers react to "christians" question. Some of the non-believers are just as hateful as the "christians". And the Bible teaches that there is one God and that there should be no other beliefs so really "christians" shouldn't be tolerant of other beliefs. But they should how ever be respectful of the answers that they provide. After all we are all intitled to our own opinion and when people give their opinion they should do it nicely and respectfully.

Everyone is guilty of that.

If you actually take a look around you find one, two or three GOOD answers, a lot of posturizing, some quips, a lot of trolls, some punkers and the rest are reactionaries.

Reactionaries have no creed, color, religion or boundaries. Gore Vidal and Willian F. Buckley one went to blows on National Televsion over poltics. Both are highly educated, literate and opinionated. Both proved to be hot heads as well!

Actually, I see just as much defence coming from all corners of all religions. Wouldn't you defend something you believed in?

I'm not certain how the rest of your tirade relates to your original question, but I believe you are mistaken. My God does not teach intolerance, but He does teach me to be discerning. Those who love, love and receive love. Those who hate are not of my God or any other 'god' for that matter (except Satan, whose followers spew hate and pride on purpose).

I certainly don't hate you for your question, but I honestly can say that I believe you would benefit by looking beyond the superficial comments you may have received in the past and try to be alittle more tolerant yourself.

it is not that we attack when we are challenge .you have to realize that many people make statements that are far from the truth of what christianity is about and in order to make some understand some of us might be a little over zealuos in proving our point .some questians cannot be answered within a few short sentences . you would need to sit down with a mature christian and actually study gods word instead of taking someones word for it

Jesus told us to spread the Gospel. Some may go about it the wrong way but it's important to get the truth out there. Someone mentioned about us being worried about what happens after we die. Well, if I were you,I'd be VERY worried because eternity is FOREVER. Imagine a bird flying by the highest mountain once every million years and its wing brushes the mountain. Once that mountain is worn down by the countless number of birds brushing against it (once every million years) then, that's just the BEGINNING of eternity. The thought of spending it in hell should worry the unbelievers. (whether you believe it or not doesn't make it untrue)

I try NOT to jump down other people's throats when they disagree. I'll simply say that I disagree and I discourage other Christians from being intolerant. Our God doesn't teach to be intolerant of people. And I hope you don't get too much hate mail.

It sucks, I know. As many open-minded Christians there are out there, there are bound to be a few radicals. Unfortunately, they have been programmed to do this and won't be changing their ways anytime soon. Hopefully, they say this thinking they are doing a good thing for us non Christians, and not just to be intolerant jerks.
